River Springs Retrievers
Warranty

At River Springs Retrievers, the health and well-being of our puppies is extremely important to us. Every puppy is raised with attentive care and receives age-appropriate veterinary care before leaving for their new home.

We want our families to feel confident when welcoming a River Springs puppy into their lives. The following health guarantee is provided to the original purchaser of each puppy.

INITIAL PUPPY HEALTH GUARANTEE

Your River Springs puppy is guaranteed to be free from communicable viral illness for 48 hours (two business days) after taking possession of the puppy.

The purchaser must have the puppy examined by a licensed veterinarian within two business days of receiving the puppy. We strongly recommend that this examination include a fecal test and that you use this first appointment to establish your puppy's ongoing relationship with your veterinarian.

Intestinal parasites are relatively common in young puppies and can occur even when puppies have been routinely dewormed. Because parasites are generally treatable and can be acquired after leaving our care, intestinal parasites are not covered by this health guarantee, and any treatment recommended by the purchaser's veterinarian will be the purchaser's responsibility.

Failure to have the puppy examined within the required two-business-day period will void the initial health guarantee.

HIP & EYE GUARANTEE

River Springs Retrievers guarantees that your puppy will not receive an OFA hip evaluation of Moderate or Severe Hip Dysplasia when properly evaluated at approximately 24 months of age.

We also guarantee against a diagnosis of inherited Retinal Dysplasia or Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA) through the required veterinary ophthalmic examination.

If a qualifying condition is diagnosed and all requirements of this guarantee have been met, River Springs Retrievers will apply the original purchase price of your puppy as a credit toward one replacement puppy from a future River Springs litter.

The replacement puppy will be provided when an appropriate puppy becomes available. If the purchaser chooses a puppy with a higher purchase price, the purchaser will be responsible for the difference. If the replacement puppy has a lower purchase price, the difference will not be refunded.

**No cash refunds will be issued.**

**This guarantee provides for a maximum of one replacement puppy**

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE HEALTH GUARANTEE

To qualify for a replacement puppy under this guarantee, all of the following requirements must be met:

• The puppy must be registered with the American Kennel Club (AKC) according to the registration terms provided by River Springs Retrievers.

• The puppy must be permanently identified by microchip. If the puppy is not microchipped before leaving River Springs, the purchaser must have the puppy microchipped within 10 days of taking possession.

• Final OFA hip evaluation must be completed at approximately 24 months of age and before the puppy reaches 25 months of age.

• Any claim for hip dysplasia must be supported by official OFA documentation showing a final rating of Moderate or Severe Hip Dysplasia.

• Any qualifying inherited eye condition must be documented by an appropriate veterinary ophthalmologist.

• The dog must never have been bred, regardless of whether a pregnancy or litter resulted.

• The dog must have been maintained at a healthy body condition and provided appropriate veterinary care, nutrition, and exercise throughout the growth period.

• The guarantee does not cover orthopedic problems resulting from injury, trauma, abuse, neglect, obesity, poor nutrition, excessive exercise, repetitive jumping, strenuous running, or other environmental causes.

• The dog must not have been used for strenuous agility, repetitive jumping, forced running, or other excessive high-impact exercise during the primary growth period.

• The dog must not be spayed or neutered before 12 months of age*unless medically necessary and recommended in writing by a licensed veterinarian.

Veterinary records may be requested when a claim is made under this guarantee.

IF A QUALIFYING CONDITION IS DIAGNOSED

If a qualifying condition is confirmed, the purchaser must notify River Springs Retrievers and provide all applicable veterinary records, diagnostic reports, OFA results, and/or ophthalmology documentation.

The purchaser may choose to return the dog to River Springs Retrievers along with the dog's original AKC registration documentation.

We understand, however, that a River Springs puppy is a beloved member of the family. You will not be required to surrender your dog simply because a qualifying health condition is discovered.

If you choose to keep your dog and receive a replacement puppy under this guarantee, the affected dog must be spayed or neutered, and written veterinary confirmation of the procedure must be provided to River Springs Retrievers. Any applicable original AKC registration documentation must also be returned or otherwise handled as required by River Springs Retrievers.

WHAT IS NOT GUARANTEED

Unless specifically stated in the written purchase agreement, River Springs puppies are sold as companion/pet-quality puppies.

River Springs Retrievers does not guarantee a puppy's eventual:

• Adult size or weight
• Exact shade of coat color
• Markings
• Conformation or show success
• Hunting ability
• Working ability
• Breeding ability
• Adult personality or disposition

Although we carefully consider genetics and temperament when planning each litter, puppies are living animals and their development is influenced by both genetics and their environment.

The guarantee also does not cover non-life-threatening or non-genetic conditions such as retained or undescended testicles, dewclaws that regrow, or migration of a microchip from its original implantation site.

BREEDING RIGHTS

Unless otherwise agreed to in writing, River Springs puppies are sold with Limited AKC Registration and are intended as family companions.

If Limited Registration is later changed to Full AKC Registration for breeding or show purposes, the standard River Springs pet health guarantee will no longer apply unless a separate written breeding/show agreement specifically provides otherwise.

The initial 48-hour communicable viral illness guarantee will remain applicable according to its original terms.
